Tik-111.500 Seminar on Computer Graphics Spring 2003: Image-based Methods

چکیده
Most graphics applications today require more or less photorealistic scenes to be rendered. This can be quite easily accomplished by rendering 3D models with increasing complexity. However, despite the fact that geometric modeling can nowadays be hardware accelerated, photorealistic results need a lot of computing and thus interactivity is usually sacrificed. Therefore, in the last few years the usage of images in 3D graphics has been extended. Numerous modeling and rendering methods have been developed that rely on images, creating the sub-field of image-based rendering (IBR). IBR uses captured images of the environment and creates new views by resampling the images that already contain the geometric and photometric properties. One of the great appeals of IBR is the potential to alleviate the modeling bottleneck as images (photographs) can be easily acquired. One particularly promising technique is image-based rendering by warping (IBRW). It uses 3D warping equation that takes samples from the reference image(s) and maps them to destination image. Recently, there have also been proposals of IBRW algorithms that could also be hardware accelerated. WarpEngine is one example of this kind of a system.

متن کاملDirectional Stroke Width Transform to Separate Text and Graphics in City Maps
One of the complex documents in the real world is city maps. In these kinds of maps, text labels overlap by graphics with having a variety of fonts and styles in different orientations. Usually, text and graphic colour is not predefined due to various map publishers. In most city maps, text and graphic lines form a single connected component. Moreover, the common regions of text and graphic lin...

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...

The design of Allegra, a new type of instrument for animated graphics is presented. It relies on the cohesive coupling of video image analysis and mass-spring system animation. The system allows for direct manipulation through the modification of a 3D scene or through a live video of the user. GPU-based physics computation enables large scale real-time mass spring system animation that makes th...
متن کاملVisibility in Computer Graphics
Visibility computation is crucial for computer graphics from its very beginning. The first visibility algorithms in computer graphics aimed to determine visible surfaces in a synthesized image of a 3D scene. Nowadays there are many different visibility algorithms for various visibility problems. We propose a new taxonomy of visibility problems that is based on a classification according to the ...
